Fall Zazen-Kai October 2004
A two day zazen-kai (Zen retreat) led by Eshin Osho will be held on October 16 and 17, 2004. Billeting is available for out of town participants, if you have special requirements for billeting (e.g. allergies) please let us know. Participants usually donate food, cookies or tea and we request a donation to cover our expenses ($50 per person) and to assist us in setting up a retreat center and teacher’s residence in the future (any amount over $50 will go toward our future Centre). All participants please contact Judith on Tuesday evenings or at 563-4199 area code 250, to arrange to contribute food or tea, for directions, details, to register, and to arrange billeting.
Before the formal zazen-kai there is an optional meeting with Eshin at 7 p.m. on Friday evening at Willows Hall. Eshin usually reviews some aspect of zen practice with us at this time. This short meeting is open to those who do not wish to commit to a full weekend of practice but would like to meet the teacher and find out more about Rinzai Zen practice.
The zazen-kai starts promptly at 8 a.m. on Saturday morning so please arrive a little early. We will end at 8 p.m. on Saturday and resume at 8 a.m. on Sunday. Lunch and dinner on Saturday and lunch on Sunday are taken formally as part of the zazen-kai. We will end and clean up at 5 p.m. and meet for an optional informal meal with Eshin at a restaurant about 7 p.m. on Sunday.
Please register and make donations ahead of time as space is limited and we need to plan meals. Buddhist teachers do not charge a set fee, instead each participant contributes a suitable gift to the teacher at the end of the Zazen-kai. A basket will be provided for this. We do not turn people away if they cannot make a donation. Your generosity is appreciated.
