Spring Zazenkai April 2005

A two day weekend zazen-kai (Zen retreat) led by Eshin Osho will be held April 23red and 24th 2005. Before the formal zazen-kai there is an optional meeting with Eshin at 7:30 p.m. on Friday evening at Willows Hall.( It would be appreciated if a few people came early to help with set up.) Eshin usually reviews some aspect of zen practice with us at this time. This short meeting is open to those who do not wish to commit to a full weekend of practice but would like to meet the teacher and find out more about Rinzai Zen practice.

If you are attending on Staurady and Sunday please register and make donations ahead of time as space is limited and we need to plan meals. We request a donation of $75 per person to the sangha to cover our expenses, and it is appropriate to make a similar donation to the teacher. Buddhist teachers do not charge a set fee, instead each participant contributes a suitable gift to the teacher at the end of the Zazen-kai. A basket and envelopes will be provided for this. We do not turn people away if they cannot donations, however your generosity is appreciated, it will make future zazen-kai possible.

With enough notice billeting can usually be arranged for out of town participants, if you have special requirements (e.g. allergies, diabetes etc.) please let us know.

Participants usually donate food, cookies or tea. All participants please contact Judith at buddhistinfo@hotmail.com or on Tuesday evenings at the Willows or at (250) 563-4199, to make donations, to arrange to contribute food or tea, and to arrange billeting.

The zazen-kai starts promptly at 8 a.m. on Saturday morning so please arrive a little early. We will end at 8 p.m. on Saturday and resume at 8 a.m. on Sunday. Lunch and dinner on Saturday and lunch on Sunday are taken formally as part of the zazen-kai. We will end and clean up at 5 p.m. then meet for an optional informal meal with Eshin at a restaurant about 7 p.m. on Sunday.

The poster for this event is available here, please print and distribute as appropriate.
